Cresskill, formed on May 8, 1894 from portions of Palisades Township, is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 7,746. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.1 mi².

History
Cresskill has much history within its 2 square miles. Camp Merritt was built during WWI as a major Army Distribution site. The monument which stands tall at the intersection of Madison Avenue & Knickerbocker Road is a Memorial and serves as a famous marker. Convenient location, near to major highways, makes this town very desirable. The Borough of Cresskill is special in its blend of people. Its townspeople are proud to call it home.
Cresskill was the home of Camp Merritt, the major debarkation point for American troops being sent abroad to fight in World War I. A large obelisk memorial, set in the middle of a traffic circle at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Knickerbocker Road commemorates the fact.

Borough Dumpster - available at the D.P.W. on Piermont Road Monday - Friday 7 AM - 8 PM, Saturday 9 AM - 8 PM. Auto ID stickers are required to use this facility. Free humus & wood chips to residents only.
