History
Quiet country living is the hallmarkof this community. Most of its one acre buildings lots are substantially wooded, and many are situated on or near the shores of the 21 magnificent lakes that grace its countryside. Full Recreational participation in community affairs. There is also a semi-private golf & country club, neighborhood stores, 2 large shopping centers, and six public schools including Ramapo Regional High School and Indian Hills High School in Oakland.

The following recreational activities are available through the borough during the year- boys/girls basketball & clinic, cheerleading, boys & girls softball & clinic, boys lacrosse, soccer camp, tennis clinics and football.
Fields: Pulis Avenue ball field- located on Pulis Ave. Soccer Field- located on De Korte Drive behind the Municipal Building. Firemen's Field- located on Franklin Ave. McBride Field- located on Franklin Lakes Road. Roller Hokey Rink - located on Pulis Ave with playground. Saddle Ridge Riding Acedemy- horse back riding lessons. All Elemntary Schools have playgrounds.
POOL- Darlington Park, just over the border in Mahwah is a county park which has a large swimming pool and picnic area.
